Dear Colleagues,<\/p>

The X Congress on Anesthesiology and Reanimation in Thoracic Surgery, organized by the University General Hospital Consortium of Valencia, will be held from November 5 to 7, 2026 in Valencia, Spain.<\/strong><\/p>

A total of 59 speakers<\/strong> with extensive clinical experience in thoracic anesthesia will participate in this year\u2019s congress, with 53 Spanish and 6 international speakers from Europe and America.<\/p>

We have requested the endorsement of SEDAR<\/strong> (Spanish Society of Anesthesiology, Reanimation and Pain Therapeutics), EACTAIC (<\/strong>European Association of CardioThoracic Anesthesiologists and Intensive Care) as well as, as in previous congresses, the accreditation of the Commission for Ongoing Education of the Valencian Region (EVES) and the Recognition of Health Interest for scientific events in the Valencian Region.<\/p>

We are currently immersed in preparing the X Congress, a very special anniversary<\/strong> that we will celebrate with a renew program on Anesthesiology and Reanimation in Thoracic Surgery, in which we will address some of the major challenges and opportunities that will shape the future of our specialty.<\/p>

As an important new feature, this edition will begin with an opening lecture devoted to the impact of artificial intelligence on thoracic anesthesia, entitled\u00a0\u201cArtificial Intelligence in the Thoracic Anesthesia of the Future: Dream or Reality?<\/strong>\u201d\u00a0The growing development of artificial intelligence-basedtools is opening new perspectives for clinical decision-making, perioperative medicine, advanced monitoring and patient safety, becoming one of thetopics of greatest interest for anesthesiologists in the coming years.<\/p>

Alongside this vision of the future, we have designed a program that we hope you will find particularly attractive, both because of its five theoreticalsessions and its ten clinical simulation workshops.<\/strong> Throughout the congress, we will present new international guidelines and recommendations related toairway management, ventilation, acute and chronic pain, locoregional techniques and perioperative medicine, presented by national and internationalauthors and experts who are actively participating in this edition.<\/p>

The program of this X Congress constitutes comprehensive training that includes an intensive clinical simulation activities with 6 workshops centred on the airway management to acquire skills in its basic and advanced management. In addition, 2 ventilation workshops, 1 hemodynamic monitoring workshop and 1 workshop on the application of ultrasound to the examination of the airway, thorax and locoregional techniques\u00a0 will be conducted.<\/p>

Firstly, the new European TOSSCA guidelines<\/strong> for the airway management in thoracic surgery (lung isolation and\/or lung separation) will be presented, as well as the best methods of lung-protective ventilation and general clinical management in thoracic surgery, which will be addressed by renowned national and international experts.<\/p>

Naturally, the evolution of thoracic surgery from thoracotomy, through video-assisted thoracic surgery (VATS),<\/strong> to robotic thoracic surgery (RATS),<\/strong>\u00a0 an area in which the University General Hospital Consortium of Valencia (CHGUV) is one of the pioneering centres in Spain, will be analyzed.<\/p>

On the other hand, the Perioperative Medicine<\/strong> programs applied to thoracic surgery, based on hemodynamic, respiratory and brain optimization<\/strong>, will be analyzed, using the latest monitoring techniques, aimed at the implementation of ERAS\/Prehabilitation in thoracic surgery<\/strong>.<\/p>

Finally, the problem of acute and chronic pain<\/strong> after thoracic surgery will be addressed, especially in the era of minimally invasive surgery, as well as the adaptation of locoregional techniques to this type of surgery, whose role continues to grow within current recovery protocols.<\/p>

We trust that this tenth edition will once again become a forum for meeting, learning and exchanging experiences among professionals committed to excellence in patient care, innovation, the incorporation of new technologies and patient safety.<\/p>
